GenMB vs Emergent: Two Ways to Build an App From a Prompt

GenMB and Emergent both turn a plain-language description into a working app. You chat, an AI agent writes the code, and you publish. The differences are in what each one builds on, what publishing costs, and what you get after the app is live.

This post compares them on the things that change your bill and your workflow. Every Emergent fact comes from Emergent's own pricing page and help center.

Quick Verdict

Choose GenMB if: You want a low entry price, free publishing on every plan, credits that roll over, and automation after launch: workflows, scheduled agents and chat agents.

Choose Emergent if: You need native iOS and Android builds for the app stores, a Python and MongoDB backend, or Enterprise options like deploying in your own cloud.

Pricing Compared

Prices as of October 2026. Credits are not the same unit on both platforms, so compare what each plan lets you do, not the raw credit numbers.

Emergent's monthly plan credits refill each billing cycle and do not roll over. Top-up credits you buy never expire.

The Biggest Cost Difference: Hosting

On Emergent, a published app runs on a publishing tier that costs a fixed number of credits every month. The tiers are Starter (50 credits a month), Launch (125), Grow (225), Scale (450) and Elite (1,100). The minimum to start a published app is 50 credits. Emergent's own docs say the Starter tier is not suitable for production apps under meaningful load.

On GenMB, publishing to a free subdomain is included on every plan, Free included, and it does not take a monthly credit fee. Your live apps stay up even if you run out of credits. Only the AI features inside them pause.

If you plan to keep several apps live, this adds up. On Emergent's Standard plan, 100 monthly credits cover two Starter-tier apps and nothing else.

Where GenMB Is Stronger

1. A Cheaper Way In

GenMB Pro is $25 a month. Emergent's Standard plan is $20 a month, and its Pro plan, with a 1M context window, is $200 a month. If you only need to build more than the free limit allows, GenMB Starter is $9 a month with no daily limit.

2. Publishing Without a Meter

You can publish on GenMB's Free plan, and hosting never draws down your credits. Every credit you buy goes to building.

3. Credits That Carry Over

Unused GenMB credits on paid plans roll over, up to twice your monthly amount. A slow month does not waste what you paid for.

4. Free Fixes for Breakage GenMB Finds

After every change, GenMB tests your app in a real browser. When a second check confirms the app is truly broken, one click on Fix now repairs it for free, up to 2 tries per error. GenMB never changes your app without asking.

5. More to Do After Launch

GenMB keeps working after the app ships:

  • Visual workflows with 19 node types
  • Scheduled agents that run tasks on autopilot
  • Chat agents that go live on Telegram, Slack and Email
  • 80 plugins for payments, email, maps, AI and more
  • Visual Editor: click any element to change text, styles and layout

6. Teams Without Per-Seat Pricing

Every GenMB plan has unlimited members and free view-only seats. Team, at $59 a month, adds a shared credit pool with a limit per person.

Where Emergent Is Stronger

Native Mobile Apps

Emergent builds mobile apps with Expo and React Native. On a paid plan, it produces iOS and Android binaries in its own cloud, and it uploads iOS builds to TestFlight for you. No Mac is needed. GenMB apps work on phones as installable web apps (PWA), but GenMB does not build for the App Store or Google Play.

A Python Backend

Emergent's most common stack is FastAPI (Python), React and MongoDB. If your team thinks in Python, that is a real plus. GenMB generates React and TypeScript apps, built with Vite and Tailwind CSS.

Deeper Model Controls

Emergent Pro includes a 1M context window, Ultra thinking, system prompt editing and custom AI agents.

Enterprise Infrastructure

Emergent Enterprise lists deploying apps in your own cloud (VPC), self-hosted database support, audit logs and user-level credit limits. Business adds real-time co-editing.

Code Access on Every Plan

Emergent's Code button lets you browse and copy files on all plans. On GenMB, the code view, ZIP export and GitHub push start on Pro.

Code Ownership and Export

Both let you take your work with you. Emergent's help center says you own the code you build, and you can push it to GitHub on Standard and above. You can export your MongoDB data at any time.

On GenMB, you own the code it generates. ZIP export and GitHub push are on Pro and above, with no limit on how many times you export.

Who Should Choose GenMB

  • Solo builders on a budget who want to publish without a hosting meter
  • People with several live apps, since hosting does not eat credits
  • Teams that want automation after launch: workflows, scheduled agents and chat agents
  • Non-developers who prefer clicking to edit over prompting for every change

Who Should Choose Emergent

  • Mobile-first founders who need App Store and Google Play builds
  • Python teams who want a FastAPI and MongoDB backend
  • Enterprises that need VPC deployment or a self-hosted database

Our Recommendation

If you are building web apps and want to keep costs low, GenMB is the better fit. Pro is $25 a month, publishing is included on every plan, and your credits roll over. You also get workflows, agents and 80 plugins once the app is live.

If you need a native app in the stores, Emergent is the stronger choice today.

The fastest way to decide is to build something. Start free on GenMB with 8 credits a day, no card needed.
