File Uploads & Video · GenMB feature

Let your users upload photos, videos, and documents

Describe an app that needs uploads and GenMB wires them in for you, with no API keys or storage setup. Your users get a drag-and-drop uploader that works great on phones, and every photo, video, audio file, PDF, ebook (EPUB, MOBI), or office doc lands on a permanent link that never expires.

Upload anything, zero setup

Drag-and-drop, multi-file, instant previews, per-file progress, and retry. On phones it opens the camera or gallery.

Big files that finish

Resumable chunked uploads survive flaky networks: up to 50MB per file on Starter, 500MB on Pro and Team, 5GB on Business.

Video that just plays

Plays at once, then upgrades to adaptive streaming (480p to 1080p) with a poster image and auto English captions. Seeking works everywhere, iPhone Safari included.

Frequently asked

Do I need an S3 bucket or API keys to accept uploads?

No. File storage is built into every GenMB app and switches on automatically when your app needs uploads. There is nothing to sign up for or configure.

How big can files be, and how much can I store?

Starter: 50MB per file and 1GB per app (200 files). Pro and Team: 500MB per file and 250GB per app. Business: 5GB per file and 2TB per app. Large files upload in resumable chunks, so a network hiccup retries only the failed chunk instead of starting over.

What happens when someone uploads a video?

It plays immediately, then GenMB converts it to adaptive streaming at 480p, 720p, and 1080p with a poster thumbnail and auto-generated English captions and transcript. Conversion time per app per day: 5 minutes on Starter, 60 on Pro, 600 on Business.

What about images, audio, and PDFs?

Images are automatically resized into fast WebP and AVIF versions with a blur-up placeholder and AI-written alt text. Audio gets a player with a waveform and a clickable transcript, and PDFs open in an inline viewer.

Can I keep some files private?

Yes. Public files get permanent links that never expire. Private files, like paid downloads or per-user documents, are shared through short-lived signed links instead.
