PROJECT PROPOSAL 
Project Title 
Secure Student ID Card System with QR Code Encryption 
1. Introduction 
Student identification systems are an essential part of educational institutions for verifying 
student identity and managing academic records. Traditional ID cards often contain static 
information and are vulnerable to misuse or duplication. 
This project proposes a Secure Student ID Card System that integrates QR code technology 
with encryption to enhance data security and verification efficiency. Each student ID card will 
contain a QR code that securely links to encrypted student data stored in a centralized database. 
2. Problem Statement 
Current student ID systems have several limitations: 
 Static data printed on cards can be easily copied or forged 
 Lack of real-time verification system 
 No encryption for sensitive student information 
 Manual verification is time-consuming and inefficient 
There is a need for a secure, digital, and automated system to overcome these issues. 
3. Objectives 
The main objectives of this project are: 
 To develop a secure student identification system using QR codes 
 To encrypt student data using AES encryption for security 
 To design a web-based system for managing student records 
 To implement a secure backend API for data processing 
 To enable fast and reliable student verification through QR scanning 
 To store data securely in a centralized database 
4. Scope of the Project 
This system will be designed for IT department students and will include: 
 Web-based admin dashboard for managing student records 
 QR code generation for each student ID 
 Secure backend API using Node.js (Express) 
 MySQL database for secure data storage 
 QR-based verification system 
 Cloud deployment for accessibility (future implementation) 
5 . Methodology / System Design 
The system will follow a full-stack architecture: 
Frontend 
 Web application for admin users 
 Used to input and manage student data 
Backend 
 Node.js with Express framework 
 Handles API requests, authentication, and QR generation 
 Implements AES encryption for sensitive data 
Database 
 MySQL database (hosted securely) 
 Stores encrypted student records 
QR Code System 
 QR code contains a secure URL token 
 When scanned, data is retrieved securely from backend 
6. Tools & Technologies 
 Frontend: HTML, CSS, JavaScript (or React optional) 
 Backend: Node.js (Express) 
 Database: MySQL 
 Encryption: AES-256 
 QR Code Library: qrcode (npm package) 
 Hosting (planned): AWS / GCP / Azure 
7. Expected Outcomes At the end of this project, the following will be achieved: 
 A fully functional secure student ID system 
 QR-based fast verification system 
 Encrypted and protected student data 
 Web-based admin dashboard 
 Secure backend API system 
 Improved efficiency in student identification

9. Conclusion 
This project aims to modernize student identification by integrating QR code technology with 
encryption and secure backend systems. The system will improve data security, reduce fraud, 
and provide a fast and efficient verification process. It also provides practical exposure to full
stack development, encryption techniques, and cloud-based deployment.
