# WESTBROOK ACADEMY — BEHAVIOUR & SCHOOL SIMULATOR

Build a functional UK secondary school management app for Westbrook Academy, Years 7–11. Use an original, professional ClassCharts-inspired interface with navy, gold and white branding and the motto “LEARN • ACHIEVE • BELONG”. Use a sidebar, dashboard cards, searchable tables, student profiles, behaviour-point displays and timetable grids. Do not copy proprietary branding or exact designs.

## 1. EMPTY START AND SAVING

Start with a completely empty database: no students, staff, classes, forms, timetables, behaviour categories, detentions or on-call types.

Provide setup options to import students and staff, configure subjects and periods, create behaviour rules, configure detention and on-call types, and generate timetables.

Use persistent database storage, not temporary browser state. All changes must survive page navigation, refreshes and reopening the app. Use unique IDs, duplicate detection, save confirmations, error handling, CSV import/export, backup and restore. Never silently overwrite existing data.

## 2. INTERFACE

Create these pages:
1. Dashboard.
2. School Day Simulator.
3. Students.
4. Staff.
5. Forms and Classes.
6. Timetables.
7. Behaviour Points.
8. Detentions.
9. On-Call.
10. Configuration.
11. Reports and Backups.

Show the current simulated date and period, open on-call requests, upcoming detentions, behaviour summaries and timetable conflicts. Include search, filters, editable records and responsive desktop/tablet layouts.

## 3. SCHOOL DAY CONFIGURATION

Allow administrators to configure school days, registration, period names and times, breaks, lunch, tutor time and after-school sessions.

Provide editable defaults:
- Registration: 08:30–08:50.
- P1: 08:50–09:50.
- P2: 09:50–10:50.
- Break: 10:50–11:10.
- P3: 11:10–12:10.
- P4: 12:10–13:10.
- Lunch: 13:10–13:50.
- P5: 13:50–14:50.
- Tutor time: 14:50–15:00.
- Detention: 15:00–16:00.

These are settings only, not preloaded records.

## 4. BULK STUDENT IMPORT

Allow names to be pasted or imported from CSV, supporting hundreds or thousands of students. Accept first name, surname, optional ID, year group and existing form.

Preview records before saving. Detect duplicates and validate data.

If year groups are missing, let me assign students across selected years. Distribute students as evenly as possible across year groups and forms. Let me configure the number and names of forms, generate IDs, create subject classes and manually move students. Preserve existing allocations when adding new students.

Never silently duplicate or overwrite records. Show imported, updated, skipped and rejected totals.

## 5. STAFF IMPORT

Allow staff lists to be pasted or uploaded. Suggest roles and departments using provided information.

Possible roles: Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher, Assistant Headteacher, Head of Department, Teacher, Head of Year, Pastoral Manager, Behaviour Support, Detention Supervisor, On-Call Staff, Teaching Assistant, Cover Supervisor and Administrator.

Departments may include English, Maths, Science, History, Geography, MFL, Computing, Technology, Art, Performing Arts, PE, Business, Politics, Pastoral, SEND and Administration.

Names alone cannot reliably establish roles. Mark uncertain details “Unconfirmed” and let me review suggestions before saving. Allow subjects, availability, teaching periods and authorised duties to be configured. Preserve existing staff records.

## 6. AUTOMATIC FORMS, CLASSES AND TIMETABLES

Generate forms, subject classes and student/teacher timetables using year groups, subjects, confirmed teaching assignments, teacher availability, class sizes, periods, room availability and workload limits.

Prevent student and teacher timetable clashes. Balance class sizes and teacher workloads. Provide whole-school, year, form, subject-class, individual-student and individual-teacher views.

Flag missing information, unassigned lessons and insufficient staffing instead of pretending the timetable is complete. Allow manual edits, locked lessons and controlled regeneration without erasing unrelated changes.

## 7. SCHOOL DAY SIMULATOR

Let me choose the simulated date, operating days and starting period. Include Start, Pause, Resume, Reset, Next Period and Jump to Period controls.

Advance through registration, lessons, breaks and lunch using the configured timetable. Display the current classes, students and teachers. Allow behaviour, detention and on-call actions during the simulation.

Save simulation progress and clearly distinguish simulated records from real-world records.

## 8. BEHAVIOUR POINTS

Start with no behaviour categories. Let me create, edit and delete categories such as disruption, lateness, missing equipment, inappropriate language, positive contribution and excellent effort.

Configure each category's name, description, positive/negative classification, point value, comment requirement, detention recommendation, on-call trigger, escalation threshold and approval requirements.

Allow individual or bulk point awards. Save the student, staff member, date, period, category, points and notes. Show student histories, class summaries and year-group reports. Numerical thresholds must not automatically impose serious sanctions without appropriate review.

## 9. DETENTIONS

Start with no detention types. Allow unlimited configurable types, including optional examples such as break, lunch, after-school, department, Head of Year and SLT detention.

Configure duration, weekdays, times, capacity, eligible supervisors, referral reasons, approval requirements and escalation rules.

Allow manual assignment and optional behaviour-rule suggestions. Record the student, reason, referring teacher, supervisor, date, attendance, completion, notes and rescheduling history.

Provide daily registers, weekly rotas, student histories, missed detention tracking, staff workloads and exports. Detect overlapping detentions, capacity limits and staff clashes.

## 10. ON-CALL

Start with no on-call types. Let me configure types, priorities, eligible responders, instructions, escalation contacts and approval requirements. Optional examples include classroom support, student removal, serious incident, pastoral support and senior leadership escalation.

During simulation, teachers can raise requests. Record the requester, student if relevant, room, period, type, priority, description, assigned responder, timestamps, status and resolution notes.

Statuses: New, Assigned, Responding, Resolved and Escalated.

Show open requests on the dashboard. Suggest available authorised staff based on availability and timetable. Warn about double-bookings and uncovered requests.

## 11. PROFILES AND CONFIGURATION

Student profiles show ID, year, form, subjects, timetable, behaviour history, detentions and relevant on-call incidents.

Staff profiles show confirmed role, department, subjects, timetable, availability, on-call duties, detention assignments and clashes.

Use permanent IDs to link records. Provide settings for year groups, forms, class sizes, subjects, periods, behaviour rules, detention types, on-call types and permissions.

## 12. TESTING AND SAFETY

Use role-based permissions and restrict sensitive student data. Include audit logs, confirmations for destructive actions, CSV exports, backups and restore.

Test using at least 400 fictional students and a substantial staff list without adding test records to the initial empty database.

Verify persistence after refresh, duplicate detection, balanced forms, clash-free timetables, working simulation, behaviour records, configurable detentions, on-call assignment, exports and backups.

Build working features, not decorative buttons. Report any unimplemented or untested features honestly. Prioritise reliable saving, easy navigation, configurable behaviour, detentions, on-call and automatic timetable generation.
