What It Does

The GenMB Chrome Extension lets you capture any webpage and generate a GenMB app inspired by its design and functionality. Browse the web, find a site you like, and turn it into your own app with one click.

  • Capture any visible webpage as a screenshot directly from your browser.
  • The screenshot is sent to GenMB where the AI analyzes the design and generates matching code.
  • A new app is created automatically based on the captured design.
  • Works with any website — landing pages, dashboards, forms, e-commerce sites, and more.

Installing the Extension

Install the GenMB Chrome Extension from the Chrome Web Store for immediate use, or build and load it locally from source for development.

Installation Options

There are two ways to install the extension. The Chrome Web Store option is recommended for most users. Local development builds are useful if you want to contribute or customize the extension.

Chrome Web Store (recommended)

Search for “GenMB” in the Chrome Web Store and click Install. The extension icon appears in your browser toolbar immediately.

Local development build

Clone the repository and run: cd chrome-extension && npm run build

Load the local build

Open chrome://extensions, enable Developer Mode, click “Load unpacked”, and select the dist/ folder.
The extension requires Chrome or any Chromium-based browser (Edge, Brave, Arc, etc.). It is not available for Firefox or Safari.

Capturing a Webpage

Capturing a webpage and creating an app takes just a few clicks. The extension handles the screenshot, upload, and app creation automatically.

Navigate to a webpage

Browse to any webpage you want to use as inspiration for your app.

Click the GenMB extension icon

Click the GenMB icon in your browser toolbar to open the extension popup.

Click Capture

Click the “Capture” button to take a screenshot of the currently visible page.

Screenshot is sent to GenMB

The extension sends the screenshot to GenMB automatically. No manual upload needed.

A new app is created

A new app is created in your GenMB dashboard based on the captured design. You will be redirected to the editor.

Preview, refine, and deploy

Open the app in the editor to preview the generated code. Use chat to refine styling, add interactivity, or adjust the layout before deploying.

What Gets Captured

The extension captures visual and structural information from the current page to give the AI the best possible context for generating your app.

  • A screenshot of the currently visible area of the page.
  • Basic page structure and text content for additional context.
  • The AI uses the screenshot as the primary input — similar to the Image to Code feature.

Privacy

No sensitive data is captured or transmitted. The extension does not access cookies, localStorage, form inputs, passwords, or any other personal data. Only the visible screenshot and basic page structure are sent to GenMB.

Get better results from the Chrome Extension by capturing clean, representative pages. The AI generates code based on what it sees in the screenshot — so the cleaner the capture, the better the output.

Best Practices for Capturing

  • Capture clean pages — avoid pages cluttered with pop-ups, cookie banners, or overlays.
  • Scroll to the best section — the extension captures only the visible viewport, so position the page to show the most interesting content.
  • Avoid login-gated pages — the AI cannot interact with the captured page, so what you see is what it gets.
  • Combine with batch Image to Code — for complex sites, capture multiple sections separately and use them with batch processing for a more complete result.
  • Refine after capture — use chat refinement to add interactivity, animations, or features that are not visible in the screenshot.

FAQs

Is the Chrome Extension free?▾
Yes. The Chrome Extension is free to install and use on all plans. Generating an app from a capture uses your regular generation quota (50 per day on the Free plan).
Does the extension work on any website?▾
The extension can capture any webpage that is currently visible in your browser tab. Some browser-internal pages (chrome://, about:) cannot be captured due to browser security restrictions.
Is any personal data sent when I capture a page?▾
No. The extension captures only a screenshot of the visible page and basic structural information. It does not access cookies, localStorage, passwords, form inputs, or any other personal data.
Can I use the extension with other browsers?▾
The extension works with any Chromium-based browser, including Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Brave, and Arc. It is not available for Firefox or Safari.
