Referrals

Invite friends to GenMB and earn $30 in app credits every time someone signs up. Your friend also gets $30. If you are on Pro or Business, you earn an extra $80 every time an invite upgrades to Pro.

How It Works

Every GenMB account comes with a unique 8-character referral code and a ready-to-share link. When a new user signs up via your link, both accounts are credited automatically.

Copy your referral link

Find it in Settings under the Referrals card. The friendly form is genmb.com/invite/yourusername.

Your friend signs up

When they land on GenMB with your link, the referral is captured as a first-touch attribution - even if they browse around before creating an account. They see an "invited by you" banner and a $30 bonus offer.

Both accounts get $30 in app credits (200 credits)

The moment their account is created, 200 credits are added to both balances. We send you an in-app notification and an email. Credits expire 7 days after they are granted - spend them before then.

The Referrals card in Settings includes one-click share buttons for X, LinkedIn, and email. You can also copy the link and paste it anywhere - Slack, Discord, WhatsApp, blog posts, newsletters.

The referral tracker works even if the visitor clicks around the site, reads the docs, or leaves and comes back before signing up. First-touch attribution is stored in a cookie for 90 days.

Referral credits can be used on any billable action and show up in your credits balance. They are spent before your plan allowance, so you actually get value from them before they expire. See the Credits doc for a full cost breakdown per action.

Referral credits expire 7 daysafter they are granted - use them or lose them. They are not top-up credits and aren't refundable on expiry. If you want non-expiring credits, purchase a top-up pack.

Pro Upgrade Bonus

When someone you invited upgrades to Pro (or Business), you earn an additional $80 in app credits (500 credits). This bonus is the single biggest lever for active inviters - one Pro conversion pays out more than two signups.

The Pro kicker is reserved for inviters who are themselves on a paid plan at the time the upgrade happens. Free-plan inviters still get a notification when their invite upgrades - and a one-click path to upgrade themselves and unlock future kickers.

Free-plan inviters get a heads-up when their invite upgrades, but the $80 kicker is reserved for Pro and Business plans.

Safeguards

To keep the program fair, a few automatic checks are enforced:

  • Each new account can only trigger the signup bonus once - re-signing in does not pay out again.
  • Self-referral is blocked if the referrer and the new account share the same email or user ID.
  • Unknown or malformed codes are silently ignored; no bonus is granted.
  • Retro-attribution is only allowed within 30 days of account creation - older accounts cannot be retroactively credited.
  • The Pro kicker pays out at most once per referee, regardless of subsequent plan changes.
  • All bonuses are idempotent - if anything retries, credits are not double-counted.

How many credits do I get per referral?▾
You and your friend each receive 200 credits ($30 in app credits) the first time they sign up through your link. Referral credits expire 7 days after they are granted - use them or lose them.
Do referral credits expire?▾
Yes. Both the $30 signup bonus and the $80 Pro-upgrade kicker expire 7 days after they are granted. They can be used on any billable action; unused credits are forfeited on expiry and are not refundable. If a second grant lands while your bucket is still active, the whole bucket extends to 7 days from that latest grant.
Is there a limit on how many friends I can refer?▾
There is no cap. You can keep sharing your link and earn $30 for every new account that signs up with it. Only the first signup per person counts - re-signing in does not re-trigger the bonus.
When are the credits added to my account?▾
Credits are granted automatically the moment your friend creates their GenMB account through your link. Both accounts are credited in the same transaction, and we send you an in-app notification and an email.
Can I refer myself with a second email?▾
No. Self-referrals are blocked. If the referrer and the new account share the same email or user ID, the bonus is not granted.
Does my friend need to upgrade for us to earn credits?▾
No, not for the signup bonus. The $30 reward is granted on signup whether they upgrade or not. But if you are on Pro or Business and your friend later upgrades to Pro, you earn an additional $80 (500 credits).
Where do I find my referral link?▾
Open Settings and scroll to the Referrals card. You will see your unique link, your signup count, and your earnings to date. Once you have a username, the link is also available as genmb.com/invite/yourusername.
What if my friend already has an account?▾
If they signed up within the last 30 days and have not been referred yet, clicking your link still credits both of you. Older accounts cannot be retroactively credited - this keeps the program fair and limits fraud.
Can I use a friendlier link than the ?ref= URL?▾
Yes. Once you have a username, your invite link is also available as genmb.com/invite/yourusername. This redirects to your tracking link under the hood.
Do I get told when someone uses my link?▾
Yes. You will get an in-app notification, an email, and a push notification (if you have enabled push) the moment they sign up. If they later upgrade to Pro and you are also on a paid plan, you will get a second notification with the kicker reward.
