Credits

GenMB uses a credit-based system to meter usage. Each plan includes a monthly credit allocation, and every action has a transparent credit cost based on complexity.

Plan Allocations

Every plan includes credits that reset on a regular cycle. Your credit balance is visible in the navigation bar, and you can see full usage, cost reference, and transaction history on the Credits page.

Team Starter and Business credits are shared across the entire team as a single pool. There are no per-member limits, all team members draw from the same balance. Unlimited team members on the same email domain at no extra cost.

Credit Costs

Credit costs are based on the complexity of each action. All costs are whole numbers with a minimum of 1 credit. The system determines complexity automatically, you don't need to choose.

Credits are only deducted after an action succeeds. Failed generations, errored API calls, and timed-out requests cost nothing.

How Credits Work

When you perform a billable action (generate code, deploy, use AI proxy, etc.), the system automatically determines the credit cost based on complexity and deducts it from your balance.

Monthly credits are used first

Your plan allocation is always consumed before any purchased top-up credits.

Then top-up credits kick in

Once your monthly balance hits zero, purchased credits are used automatically. No interruption to your workflow.

Low-credit warnings

You'll see a warning toast when credits drop below 10, and a modal at zero with options to purchase more.

AI proxy credits (LLM completion, image generation in deployed apps) are charged to the app owner, not end-users of the deployed app. Keep this in mind when building apps with AI features.

Top-Up Packs

Need more credits? Purchase top-up packs at any time from the Credits page or the zero-credit modal. Top-up credits never expire and are available on all plans.

Top-up credits don't unlock plan-gated features. For example, purchasing credits on the Free plan won't give you access to AI Agents or Workflows - upgrade to Business for those features.

Earning Credits (Free)

Don't want to pay? Earn free credits by inviting friends. Every time someone creates a GenMB account through your referral link, you both get $30 in app credits (200 credits). Pro and Business users earn an additional $80 (500 credits)whenever an invited friend upgrades to Pro. There's no cap on how many friends you can refer.

A single Pro conversion via your invite pays out more than two signups combined. If you regularly invite teammates or peers building software, upgrading to Pro unlocks the kicker.

Team Credit Pool

Business plans use a shared team credit pool. All team members draw from the same 5,000 monthly credits, there are no individual limits or per-seat caps.

  • Workspace owners can purchase top-up packs for the workspace pool from the Workspaces dashboard.
  • Every deduction is logged with the acting member's name for full visibility in transaction history.
  • Unlimited team members - adding members does not reduce anyone's credits.

Rollover & Reset

Credits reset automatically based on your plan. Unused credits on paid plans carry over for one billing cycle.

Purchased top-up credits are separate from your plan balance and are never affected by resets. They never expire regardless of your subscription status.

FAQs

What happens when I run out of credits?
You'll see a modal showing your balance and the cost of the action. You can purchase a top-up pack to continue immediately, or wait for your next credit reset (daily for Free, monthly for Pro/Business).
Do unused credits roll over?
Paid plan credits roll over for one billing cycle, capped at 2× your monthly allocation (600 for Pro, 2,000 for Team Starter, 10,000 for Business). Free plan credits reset daily with no rollover.
Do top-up credits expire?
No. Purchased top-up credits never expire. They are used only after your monthly plan credits are depleted.
Do referral credits expire?
Yes. Referral credits (the $30 signup bonus and the $80 Pro-upgrade kicker) expire 7 days after they are granted. They are spent before your plan allowance, so you actually get value from them while they are active. Unused credits are forfeited on expiry. Top-up credits you purchase never expire.
Who gets charged for AI features in deployed apps?
AI proxy credits (LLM completion, image generation) are charged to the app owner, the GenMB user who built the app, not the end-users visiting the deployed app.
How does the team credit pool work?
Team Starter (1,000/mo) and Business (5,000/mo) plans share a single pool across all team members on the same email domain. There are no individual balances, all usage draws from the shared pool. Usage is attributed per-member in transaction history for visibility.
Can Free plan users buy top-up packs?
Yes. Top-up packs are available on all plans, including Free. However, top-up credits don't unlock plan-gated features like AI Agents or Workflows - you'll need to upgrade for those.
Am I charged if a generation fails?
No. Credits are only deducted after an action succeeds. If code generation fails or an API call returns an error, no credits are consumed.
